as befits a band that can boast three part-time keyboardists, there's a healthy selection of synths and organs in sigur rós' studio. favourites include a roland juno 106, hammond B3, yamaha VSS30 and yamaha SK20. "the SK20 is fun because no one uses it," sveinsson enthuses. " i don't know anyone who does, so you can get them for about 150 pounds or less. we have three."

"he always uses the same one, that yamaha SK20, for the organ," thomas says. "he never uses the synthesizer part, it's just for the straightforward organ sound. and there's his hammond. kjartan's always looking for keyboards."
